Singing....Rain, Rain Go Away......

The rain is coming down in torrents. Himself is trying to make his way back home from the city. A three hour drive and the highway must be in an awful state. We've had some lovely weather though so can't complain. The cats have the best idea on what to do on a day like today.

Many bees coming around now. I've seen butterflies as well but haven't been able to get a picture. I love the way this bee has pollen all over his face.

And, a fly was seen.

The garden is alive with birds these days. The Pine Grosbeak has been coming every day. A fine looking fellow.

Some odds and ends......

Rabbit in the garden. Playing an instrument no less!

Freya relaxing.

I finally got a path cut along part of the tree line.

There are a few wild strawberries that have set up home among some of the plants. They are now coming into bloom.

The plants are all growing wonderfully well. Leaves are out on the trees and the berry trees are in blossom.

Flutter and Bee.

Finally, a sunny day. I've never seen the ground on my property so wet. You can't even step in some of the gardens without going up to your ankles in mud. Even the front with some lawn which is normaly very dry is so wet that you can hear the water squish. I got my running shoes soaked along with my feet while out fixing up a few things. Why didn't I wear my new wellies you might ask.....the answer...because I don't want to get them dirty. I have worn them to the shops twice now though and they are wonderful.

The black flies are out in force now along with some mosquitoes. They get in your eyes, mouth and up your nose. Inside your clothes as well if they can manage that. I've had to give it all up and come inside several times this morning. Of course all this wet weather and the warmer temperatures is the best thing that could happen for them. Anyway, I'm not complaining TOO much as it's a treat to see the sun. And, they are saying another sunny day for tomorrow.

So, I got my first shot of a butterfly for this season and also one of the first bees. I didn't manage to get the bees face but never the less it's the first bee photo of the summer.

Also got a picture of a water drop. I find it facinating how you can see the trees in these drops.

That's it for today, I am now out and at it again. Got to take advantage of the sunshine.

Pine Grosbeak has arrived.

On looking out yesterday, what to my wondering eyes did I see.....a Pine Grosbeak at one of the feeders. I had a pair here last year and this is the first sign of one this year. Like the Evening Grosbeaks, their food of choice seems to be sunflower seeds.

The yellow rumped Warbler and his little lady are still here. The young fellow was at the suet feeder yesterday.

And of course, what would my day be if I didn't take pictures of the little mischief maker.

We've had two days of sunshine in a row! It's been wonderful, got the lawn cut finally and many things done outside. I've had to cover the potted up annuals each night as there has been a frost warning. That in itself is a job. I counted the planters and pots and have 45 on the go. I was wondering why every year I spent so much on annuals and now I know why. I bought some seed potatoes and have planted them along one side of the larger greenhouse and also in the small greenhouse along with peas and beans. I don't know if this will work out but am going to give it a go.

The Dandelion are around in great numbers. While they are considered a bit of a nusiance, they look so bright and pretty.

I've been mentioning that there's been a Boreal Chick a Dee coming to the feeders every day.....Well, yesterday I saw three at one of the feeders all the same time. What a great surprise. I was thrilled to say the least. They are so very cute and a little bit small than the Black Capped Chick a Dee.

A few pictures of some of the flowers in bloom at the moment.

One of the annuals I bought. A daisy of some sort. This piece broke off so I put it in water and took a picture.

Things are going along much the same as usual. Nothing much of note happening. So, I'm off out in the garden once again.

New Wellies!!!

Yesterday I got in the mail the most wonderful present from a beautiful friend. A new pair of wellies! And....they have skulls on them. LOL! I am over the moon with excitement. It's amazing that she got the size right, they fit perfectly and are so comfortable. I'll be the only one around with boots like these. (Big grin!)

I'm not going to mention the weather only to say that it hasn't changed. I have all my annuals bought and most potted up. I've had to keep them in my two greenhouses as it's been too cold to put them outside with the risk of frost still in the air. Consequently, I can't get in either greenhouse to plant tomatoes etc. It's very frustrating! You can see from these pictures what I've been busy at.

And still more pots to fill with plants.

The grass is in desperate need of cutting but it's just too wet. This little fellow is patiently waiting for sunshine.

Always a bright moment in the day when one of the little squirrels arrive at the feeder.

He/she thinks I can't see him, lol.

It's been pretty quiet around here. It poured rain all day yesterday so we went to the greenhouses where I bought more annuals. I found two more long planters that I had forgotten about and needed more plants for those. The perinnials are all growing beautifully. Don't know why as it's been very cold most days. I guess Mother Nature knows what she's doing.
