Funny how one gets lulled into thinking that this isn't going to be too bad a winter after all. It is almost the end of January after all and it hasn't been a rough go. But....yesterday we got dumped on! Heavy snowfall warnings, blizzard warnings, etc. Preparing for the worse, we stacked a pile of wood outside the back door for easy access and I made some salads because with any harsh weather we always seem to lose the electricity. We didn't lose the power thankfully. So, this morning the snow is up to our knees and we may have to hire a plow to get the driveway cleared. Mind you, it's a very short driveway but with the problems himself has been having, it's not a good idea to shovel heavy snow.
So, a few pictures of snow we had a week or so ago. It's still dark as I write this so no shots of yesterdays mess.
There was hardly a bird to be seen yesterday as it was too rough, high winds and white out conditions. This is a picture taken last week of Grosbeaks taking shelter in one of the feeders.
And this little fellow is looking at me as if to say, "Hey, how come you haven't put more seeds in this feeder."
One of the neighbours has just arrived with his small plow and is doing the driveway. How wonderful!

In short sharp bursts, snow is fantastic. Ontario family have been snowbound for weeks now, looks grim there. But the snow in these pictures has really made your bird species look fabulous OC
Glad you didn't lose the power OC...and a plough to clear the driveway!! We're forecasted to have snow but hopefully it will be just a sugar coating by comparison
Love the woodie and the snow scenes look wonderful...
Stay warm...
Well I think the birds appreciate your bounty. I know what Maritime Winters can be like. Its a wonder all the birds don't migrate to Mexico every Fall. No snow here in England, good thing too. Take care of yourselves.
Ali
so unfair. take care oc
GOOD neighbors are priceless...glad the driveway is getting plowed. SO winter may come late, its spring here daffodills are blooming, I turned my garden soil over today in prep for the planting that Ill do later, I normally put my lettuce seeds in about mid to late Feb...its been so warm Im tempted to put them in. I need a cold frame.
Love the snowy photos!!
We had a dump starting early Saturday - about 6-7". Then today it warmed up to 6C. My drain, just outside my bedroom, is dripping LOUDLY as I write.
It looks so pretty but i am NOT a fan now that i am back to work part time..i HATE driving in it :-( Stay Warm!
I'm so glad your neighbor could plow your driveway! I wish nature could even things out...I'm about to go crazy from the lack of rain and snow!
I love the photos; looking at snow makes me feel a bit better, thank you for posting them.
Blessings,
Victoria
