Garden Workers

I can't imagine how many bugs they get in the run of a day. Not only that, they're fertilizing as they're walking around.

Among the plants.

Trotting off to another area.

I have two young squirrels at the feeders this morning. They seem like they are just feeling their way around and not fighting with each other so I figure they're from the same nest.

Can't help but love that little face.

Seems you and your "ladies" have a mutually beneficial relationship - how great!

Now those squirrels - just too cute indeed!

Your hens are lovely. We want to get two or three when (if!) we ever get our own patch of land to put them on. I've bought a book ahead of time on the subject. Are your good layers? What do you do with your hens when they're past their laying time? Stew pot?

Ali, The chickens don't lay as much as they use to but give us enough. When they are past their laying time they just live on to old age. We don't kill them. They are pets really.

Lucky you to have such good helpers in the garden :)

I want a handful of chickens too and would probably let them live on to old age too. We do have a few wild critters though, that would love them, perhaps too much, for dinner.
