The Bear AGAIN!

This is starting to get a bit troubling now. The bear was here again just about 15 mins. ago and seemed to have no fear of us at all. He was wandering around sniffing at this and that and even came up on the steps to the deck. My main worry is that someone will shoot him. I expect we will have to call the wildlife people and maybe they will set up a live trap here.

In this one he's sniffing at a garden ornament.

Yeah Pete if we see him/her again we will phone the Wildlife people. He's getting a bit too familiar now.

I agree with you, call the wildlife people. No good ever comes to bears that hang out close to people. It will frighten someone's kid or enter a house and be shot.

Oh dear! The wildlife people here just shoot them if they get to familiar ... I do hope it rambles off to a den somewhere.

Amazing and what beautiful photos....I can see your worries now and I hope it stays safe.
My sister in Connecticut told me of a bear in the city of New Britain who was near a school and bus stop as children were going to school....

Gosh OC - that is getting a bit too close for comfort. Sounds as though he's becoming attached to you and a bit too comfy. Think the wildlife people will have to come round!

Great pictures of him though.

Ooh er! just caught up with this and your last post, he is gorgeous. It lends a whole new meaning to the term 'Beargarden'!

I do hope no one harms him. Hopefully if necessary he can be pointed in another direction by the wildlife people! Great photos though :)

Can you not hose him with a garden hose from inside a kitchen window to give him something to be afraid of? Or set up a big metal tin on top of something with a string tied to it through the window. When Bear arrives, pull string, one almighty crash and bear hightails it to the woods.

Or would he kill and eat you? :)

You can tell we Brits have no life threatening wildlife here cant you....

Stewart, that's so funny. Actually himself has the garden hose up on the deck now just in case. I don't think it will do much good though. I'm hoping the bear won't be back.

Just catching up with your blog and saw your lovely bear. Its worrying that he is hanging around so much. He looks fat and his fur is in great condition so I wouldnt worry about diseases, obviously well fed (that could be good or bad). Hopefully the wildlife service can relocate him.

Too close for comfort, has he shown interest in your chickens, or are you having to keep them in?

Hope you can get him relocated before some trigger happy person gets him.

show him a yogi bear cartoon, that'll keep him entertained long enough for you to do the right thing...... RUN!!! Hope this gets resolved okay, guess he's on the fall prown looking for food before the winter hold up.

Crikey!
Firstly your pics looks amazingly good. Secondaly, you are very lucky to have such exciting wildlife turning up in your yard. Thirdly, I agree you should seek assistance of local wildlife authorities to do what is right.

Wow!
