September Days

The hip has been improving. I saw the doctor on Thursday, was told it was a muscular thing and was given pain killers and muscle relaxers. I took one of each when I got home and they knocked me out, slept for about three hours. Which was probably a good thing in retrospect as it kept me off my feet. I haven't taken any more of the pills and as I said things have improved considerably. However, I'll have to put himself to work in the garden as I'm afraid of risking being in this state again.

The days have been lovely. Very cold in the mornings and evenings but sunny and warm during the day. Two of the bears have been captured and relocated. This was good news. I've been doing little or nothing, just trying to give the hip a bit of a break.

I started this post on Sept. 12th., had saved it to get back to and it's now the 15th. Time is going much to fast. We've had a lot of high wind this past two days with the big Spruce trees doing their swirling dance and the Aspens singing. It gives one a sense of comfort at night to hear these sounds through the open window. As the days go by I notice more of the leaves turning fall colours.

A few pictures taken over this past week.

Sleeping Cat.

"Must you wake me again with that blasted camera."

Bee on Motherwort. I won't see bees for much longer as the days are getting colder.

Large spider in greenhouse. He's made a very large web that stretches from tomato plants on one side to the other side. I can't go through without destroying the web which I don't want to do. I keep hoping he'll soon decide to go somewhere else as I have to get tomatoes. Argh!!

A few flowers that are now in bloom.

Glad to hear that you're on the mend OC; those pills sound potent!

The mornings and evenings here are getting cooler and the South East of England is now "enjoying" some steady gentle rain. It will lay the dust though and the garden could definitely use the water.

It's sad to think the bees and colour of the flowers are going soon - so here's to spring!

Always enjoy your posts OC. Glad the hip is better.

I've been gardening too ... setting some beds to rest, harvesting a bit here and there. Our weather has remained remarkably warm for this time ofyear ... not even a frost yet ... so the tomatoes are still ripening. I do have to harvest the toms today though, as we are going to the coast for a week and one can't trust there won't be a frost in the meantime. Too bad. We'd love to be able to stay home and putter. Sigh.

Glad the hip is better. Does the weather ever affect it? I'm noticing an old shoulder injury is making itself felt again, now Summer is over. Hope the bruins are happier in their new neighbourhoods too!

Your cats are too cute!

Tricia, I daresay I'll be getting excited about spring before I know it. lol
Cicero, there's nothing so good as staying home and puttering. I love it.
Ali, the weather doesn't seem to affect my hip, it's doing heavy work outside.

Sorry that you hurt your hip but glad you are doing better...we have been having some beautiful weather, too.
It's been magical for me the hummingbirds are still visiting our garden, they are attracted to the sunflowers and the few honeysuckles that still are in bloom ... probably won't be long before their long journey south.
Take care!

Do you get a lot of "leaf peepers" around your area OC? I am looking forward to photos of the changing foliage, as I doubt I will see it myself! Glad the hip is getting better, and that the wayward bears have a new home.

Janine, my first thought when you mentioned "leaf peepers" was some kind of tree frog. I never heard that expression before, lol. Now I'm thinking you mean people. I'll try to get some photos for you.

Good to hear the hip is on the mend.... must be all that farming in younger days eh?

I love this time of year, but with the evenings getting shorted by 15 minutes each week, very noticable winter is around the corner.... and the Equinox. Storms for a while then???

Watch out for those bears, your guard cat looks absolutely useless at fighting them off!!

Andrew, lol, that foolish cat couldn't fight a butterfly off let alone a bear. I daresay the few years working on the farm contributed some to my hip problems.
