Yesterday afternoon I lay back on the couch for a read and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep only to be awakened by himself with an excited voice telling me to hurry and get my camera as there was a grouse outside. Still half asleep I grabbed the camera, threw on my shoes that were by the door and stumbled outside. It was a big one and fortunately most times you can get quite close.

You can see how well they blend into their surroundings.

When I first went out I didn't notice anything odd about my feet, I daresay because of the excitement, but on the way back to the house I was having difficulty walking. So, on looking down I had a great laugh. I had put on one of my shoes and one of his.

We had a bonfire yesterday morning on the back of the property. We had gathered a good bit of old wood and branches, etc. and as we are still allowed to have a fire (until May 15th), it was a good day. Hardly any wind at all and although it was nippy early in the morning, at least the sun was shinning.

I got a lovely gift from a friend in Ontario on Friday. Anyone who's had a cat or cats knows how true this is.

And lastly, the sun was hitting this Rabbits Foot Fern yesterday so thought it was worth a picture.

The grouse are like partridge that way; disappearing into the environment. I love a good bonfire. Looks like Spring is making Her presence felt there.
What a wonderful garden visitor... and I can understand the excitement... Nice one OC.
never mind about the shoes... lol you got the pictures :D
Ha, ha, ha about the shoes!
Love the cat hair cup.
Everyone is burning around here too. Makes me think I should get with it!
ah sun!!!!
btw didn't rog get HIS camera?
That's a great pic of the grouse, how wonderful that they let you get so close!
You putting on one of your shoes and one of your husband's shoes gave me a much-needed laugh, as did the cat hair cup. I must try to find one of those.
You captured the light and shadow on the fern beautifully!

Love the mug oldcrow and love the photo of his and her footwear. I once came to work in a different pair of shoes, luckily both brown, but one lace up and one slip on. Didn't realise until someone told me at lunchtime... oh dear, I was only 41 then as well!!
Me again oldcrow... noticed you still have BorderReiver as a link, sadly that blog died a few years ago and was ressurected by Tales of a Wessex Reiver... http://wessexreiver.blogspot.com/ might be worth changing (or not as the case may be) LOL
Done Andrew. hahaha, I can just imagine your face when you found you had two odd shoes on at work.
