Friday

Although we're still having lovely weather, the feel of fall is in the air.   Some of the fall plants have started blooming already and the summer bloomers have quickly faded.  Most of the annuals that I general put in containers have gone to seed and are looking quite raggedy.

Another sign of the coming fall.....we had a bear here one night last week.  He/she got up the large tree that I had the platform feeder attached to and hauled it all down.  The feeder itself was licked clean and the tall grass around the tree was flattened.   So I had to spend part of the morning fixing the feeder as it was a bit broken up.  Also had to scour around for some new wood to attach it to the tree again.   No more incidents so far.

There hasn't been a lot of birds around.  The blue jays are always here of course.  The young ones not trying to beg food from mom and dad anymore.   The nuthatches are here all during the day but not many chick a dees.   I expect with the wonderful summer we've been having they are finding food elsewhere.

I've been trying for some time to get a picture of a Cabbage White Butterfly.  They've never kept still enough for me.  Last week though I managed to get one.

I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of this little imp.

And last but not least, Stanley enjoying the lovely day.

You take having a bear visit your garden very calmly, I think I should be in a permanent panic about it.

There is a distinct feeling of seasons changing here, too. We have had two days of sunshine this week and I have been enjoying it immensely.

You captured the White butterfly perfectly. It looks beautiful perched in the flower. That Squirrel really is cheeky! Isn't Stanley serene?

Toffee Apple, I'm glad to hear that you're getting some sunshine. As to the bears, we're use to seeing them in the garden. Now, I don't mean that we have them here all the time, lol, but once or twice a year we see one or two during the day. That's when I can usually get a few pictures. They are such beautiful creatures.

Love Stanley and very pretty composition of your hard won flutter....and I really don't want to hear talk of Fall/Autumn.....

The birds are probably recovering after the breeding season..not many about there either!

Oh my word, that squirrel! Those things were the ban of the yard at my late parent's place. Always trying to raid the feeders and make off with the suet balls.

No sign of Autumn here in England yet, but I'm sure looking forward to it. Hope your OH is feeling better too.

Lucky you...Fall already on the way. We're just starting our hottest time of year now here in the Southwest of America.

The little squirrel is so cute, and Stanley is looking handsome - as always! Love the photo of the butterfly, I've never been able to capture one of those.

Watch out for the bears!

Blessings, Victoria

You are so lucky to have had a lovely Summer we waited and waited for ours but it never arrived, just the odd, precious day to treasure now and again, such a disappointment. It was reported today that our bees have suffered terribly...our old apple tree bears that out...not an apple on it, the first time ever!

Lovely photos! That squirrel is just so cheeky :-) Stanley looks very regal. I heard of a cat called Donkey yesterday, just imagine calling that name down the garden :-)

Shy Songbird, that's quite a name for a cat. Although it wouldn't be strange to hear something equally funny being called down this garden.
