Yesterday...

It was a glorious afternoon and if it wasn't for leaves drifting down and the sweet smell of fall, I would have thought it was summer.   Cats were lounging around soaking it all up and me too at times.    I felt lazy and just sat, turning my face to the sun wishing it could continue like this until at least January.

But, reality sets in and today I've been storing more pots, containers, chairs. etc.   I'm glad the old falling apart shed up behind the house hasn't been torn down as I had planned because, even though it's in rough shape, I've had to put some stuff back up there.

I have a seven and a half foot pre lit xmas tree on the way.   Our old one was falling apart and smaller.  I think every now and then that I must be mad to be thinking of all the decorating. I usually enjoy doing  as I'm by myself and celebrating the seasons is just not the same.  However, after saying that, I've decorated the mantle for autumn.

I love the colours this time of year.   They're so warm.

Taking a break.

I noticed yesterday that these plants were putting out blooms again.

The Phlox are still hanging in there and giving off such wonderful perfume.

Malachi strolling along with me.

I hope you keep decorating. It's hard I know, but himself would not want you moping about - I'm sure he's looking down (or up, depending how good he's been recently) and smiling that you're keeping the things going you both enjoyed and loved. We may be spread around the world, but with you, like himself, in spirit, and enjoy your postings too. Super mantle by the way :-)

Thanks Andrew. You're quite right in what you say. You've put a grin on my face.

Your mantle is beautiful, OC. I plan to keep on decorating as long as I can, although a lot of people don't get why I do it. It makes me happy, and why quit doing things that make us happy?

The colors of the leaves in the second photo are gorgeous, what kind of plant is that? Your phlox are still looking beautiful, and Malachi looks as handsome as ever!

Blessings,

Victoria

Victoria, I have to say that I do love decorating for special occasions. I'm still a child at heart and love the mini lights and colours. That plant is a type of perennial geranium. It has quite a strong smell which I like although some people don't. And, also has small pink flowers when in bloom.

Still looks like summer in your lovely garden...

Pete, the tree won't be going up any time soon, haha. I usually have it up for Yule, Dec. 21. but not much sooner.

It is good that you keep traditions going in your home.

My Mallow has recently flowered again too but my Phlox are definitely over now; they aren't perfumed either, quite a disappointment.

Suz, you gave me a grand chuckle with your comment. I always decorate for Yule and have people in for food and drinks. I expect I'll do the same thing again this year. Hope you do get out the fall decorations. I love the warmth of the colours.
