Spring Day!

Yep, lovely sunny spring like day. Water dripping off the roof from the ice and bit of snow that's on it. Snow is shrinking down, but still a lot to go yet. There wasn't a breath of wind outside this morning so we decided to go for an hours walk. It was quite early in the morning and only about -7C at that time so bundled up and started off. Got out on the road and the flippin wind hit us. I said, "Erm, I don't want to go." I was convinced otherwise!! Spent most of the walk with my hood up trying to keep the wind out of my eyes, no luck there. So, most of the walk my eyes were watering and consequently, my nose running, continually hauling tissues out of my pocket cleaning myself up. We went along the beach for a good part of the walk and there were icy patches under light snow so had to walk with trepidation over the first part of our little journey. I took the camera with me but there was nary a bird nor a beastie to be seen. Lots of rabbit tracks though. Thankfully, on the way back the wind was at our back so it was more enjoyable. To be honest, when we arrived home again I was glad I went as I felt good. Maybe, just maybe, I might try it again tomorrow as I believe it's suppose to be another lovely day.

The temperature got up to +14 C. Friends dropped by for coffee just after we got back and we were talking about how anxious we are to get seeds started. Way too early yet though but it's days like this when you start chomping at the bit. We will no doubt have March snow storms as always.

Took a few pictures, though nothing of great interest.

It's certainly of interest to me, you have beautiful scenery, it's nice to get an idea of your surroundings. :)

Glad you've got some nice weather (apart from the wind) We had frost and ice first thing, now have gales and lashing rain, back to the normal Welsh weather. :(

Had a walk with Pat and the dogs today, sounds the same as yours, wind was awful and I spent my time blowing my nose and mopping my streaming eye too.

Hey Boulmer birder, it's amazing how we find out how much we have in common. This is a well know tourist area. There are several lovely sandy beaches around. Our beach, I'll say, is just a few minutes walk down the road. We get quite a few tourists in the summer months up until labour day.

Jan, you'll have to come visit in the summer.

Beautiful!

Of course not as beautiful as the Peak District, but then I'm biased. ;)

Can you send some snow please, I haven't seen any in ages!

I bought a heated propagator the other week, I have loads of seeds on the go already.... the utility room has become a greenhouse. Growing loads of fruit and veg this year, and I want them to have a good start.

Anna, sounds like you're on your way to a good crop. I love to see the seeds sprout and come up from the earth. As to the snow...wish I could send it all over to you, lol.

This blogging is fascinating, it's what makes the world tick meeting new people, and of course seeing "proper winter" rather than the weird half winter we get here in the south of England.. I love the snowscapes my family send me from their cabin on the Ontario Lakes in winter... And interesting how many "alternative religon" people are around. My Cousin is the webmaster for the Pagan Federation for the SE of England, and is always trying to convert me.. He's metaphysical and I'm more physical, interested in nature and it's relationship to man. But the Glastonbury area, does have a definite feel to it. If you have a mo, have a look at http://www.chalicewell.org.uk/ website, a place I go to now and again for rejuvination. Keep the pictures coming :-)

I very much like to see winter snow scenes - we just don't seem to get proper seasons in East Anglia anymore and like Anna I haven't seen snow in ages. Cindy xxx
PS I'm vegetarian too, have been for 15 years or more ... :-)

Hi Border reiver. Had a look at that website. Looks like my kind of place. Have you been there yourself?

Indeed, just once or twice a year, they do wonderful "quarter day" celebrations
