We had a terrible thunder storm the night before last. Sometime during the night, what sounded like a bomb going off jerked me awake. For a split second, long enough for me to say to myself, ah thunder, then I was back to sleep. In the morning himself says, "A lot of thunder last night." I say "Yes, I heard the big clap, woke me for a few seconds, then I went back to sleep." He says "Wish I could sleep as sound as you, on the other hand, it's a good thing I hear noises in the night just in case something bad is happening." What can I say, very little keeps me awake.

Temperatures have cooled off some. It's trying to clear at the moment, and daughter is on her way for a weekend visit.

I saw two Pine Grosbeaks on one of the feeders earlier this morning. Unfortunately, I was up on the ladder filling another feeder. Of course I got down pretty quick, ran and got the camera, but they had gone. I decided to hang on for a few minutes and they came back. Two on the feeder and I couldn't believe it....another one up in the branch of the tree. That makes it three now. I got a couple of pictures of the two on the feeder, not the best, but there you go.

There was a family of crows on the platform feeder, probably two families. All I know is that there were young ones there making that "honking" sound. Still haven't got the "caw" down. They sound so funny. I think this was one of the young ones.

Can anyone identify this plant for me. It's a big surprise to me as I can't remember planting it. I may have planted some bulbs last year that didn't grow and for some reason these came up this year. Haven't a clue what it is. Click on pics. to enlarge.

Fireweed that's taken up residence in one of the gardens.

Looks like thunder storms are prevailing on both sides of the "pond".

Lovely flowers OC - no idea what your "mystery" plant is but it's very beautiful nonetheless!

I've seen pictures of it but the name escapes me. Try Dean at Mostlymacro for your moth IDs. He knows just about every one that exists.

I cant be sure about your beautiful plant, but it is somewhat familiar to a digitalis, or common name of foxglove. Probably completely wrong!!

Hi tattyanne, yes, it does resemble the foxglove. Maybe related.
