Loads of people around this past weekend. You could hardly find parking at the few stores we have in the community. It was a beautiful weekend and I hear that the beaches were packed with people. Well, not our beach down the road as it's a little known secret, lol. It's not advertised for the tourists like the other two and that suits me just fine. I had people in for Greek food on Saturday evening, then Sunday we were invited to a barbecue. All in all it was very enjoyable.
So....I did take time to run for the camera this morning when I saw a few visitors.
I haven't a clue what this bug is. The body itself was about an inch long and the photo doesn't really do it justice. Very handsome.

I believe this is a Skipper but I'm darned if I can find it in my book.
I saw a White Plume Moth on Wildlife on Wheels blog this morning, then while in the garden I spied this. It looks very much like the picture I saw on Yokes blog. I'm wondering if that's what it is?

Your flutter certainly looks like a skipper but I'm sure someone else with more knowledge will help with the ID better than I can!!

Hi Oc, the Skipper is a Samll Skipper ( well over here it is), you have a White Plume moth and the bottom is a moth too, but I'm unsure of the species...

Stewart, I looked up Samll Skipper in my book and it's not there. Went through all the pictures again and still no luck. I googled the name you gave and it certainly looks very much like mine.
I don't blame you for keeping your beach a secret! I hope your hubby had a good stay in Spain.

Most excellent macro photographs! I came here because a certain artist you know, your daughter, sent me an email. I have not been here yet but I am floored by all the vegetation. What a verdant garden and mine, all dried and burnt from the severe heat and abscence of rain. I turned on the sprinklers yesterday and I could hear the plants cry at the first touch of water and I smelled the earth's petrichor.

What strange weather this year...we had so much rain I think it may have washed some of the mosquitoes away but I'm sure now that I've said this, they will be back with a vengeance!
That was a most enjoyable walk with lots of lovely creatures including a very friendly looking horse :) The butterfly definitely looks like a Small Skipper to me.
