March 4th., 2008

It's been snowing off and on this past three days and to be honest I've felt like doing very little. Haven't taken any pictures except this one of the sunrise early this morning.

Decided to put on some pictures of the garden taken last summer. For you st. A few bits and pieces.

Fabulous pictures! The sunrise looks as though the horizon is on fire! Your garden is lovely, what are the 'yellow thistles' in front of the Delphiniums, I've never seen those.

Hi Toffeeapple. The yellow flowers are Blessed Thistle and the blue behind those is Monkshood. The bees go mad for both.

Yeah Pete, I think that's why I've been feeling a bit down this past few days. Not only the weather but that spring/summer is so near yet so far away.

Your garden is beautiful .. lovely bright and bold splashes of colour in your planting scheme...the statues are cute and I am very envious of the shady corner with the wooden seat. I'm looking forward to this summer's photos! xxx

Monkshood! Is that the poisonous variety? Looks stunning.

Yes, deadly apparently, if any part is eaten. In fact, I don't know if it was last year or the year before a man in this province used some of the leaves of this plant in a salad and died. Because it's considered an herb I guess he thought it was okay. Tragic!
