Saturday and HOT!

Just finished watering all the gardens. Hose has broken but I managed to get it done. What a month we've had weather wise. Sunny and hot. This past three days there has been a Pine Grosbeak gobbling up the sunflower seeds. I don't often get one of these birds in the garden and I noticed that while he was on one of the feeders a jay landed quite near him and he shivered his wings like the young do when they want food from the parent so it seems it's a young one. I don't know if he's lost the flock or what's going on.

Looking around I found this moth. Don't know what kind it is. Guess this means buying a book on Moths now, lol.

I bought some Chicory seeds last year and started some plants. This year it's bloomed and I'm quite pleased with the flowers, so pretty.

A Rose, and I'm not sure of the name of the other one. Maybe Rubeckia.

Our yard has been very quiet bird wise this last summer but yesterday, the place was popping. Especially after I topped up the little burbling fountain we have! They were all lined up awaiting their turns for drinks and baths. It wasn't such a hot day here but the air was sure dry. I put cloths out to dry and they were dry before I could hardly turn around!!

Wonderful shots as usual OC. I would agree - the Chicory flowers are really pretty - wonderful colour. I'm intrigued too about your Jay activity...

It's hot and sunny over here today - but rather sticky with it!!! But I'm not complaining though - heat is a rare commodity!

more lovely photos chook (as indeed always!). Glad you popped over to see my Dublin pix ... that's Oscar Wilde on the rock .. he was born in Dublin. Phew it is hot here too ... forecast even hotter tomorrow, these days we don't get the chance to acclimatise to hot weather, the spring is cold and windy then all of a sudden we're launched into 30 degrees C! It is all or nothing in this country xxx
