Happy Yule to All

Storm brewing up! I was outside just at dawn and could here the wind high up brewing up a storm. Now the snow has started to fall and at times it's swirling around in the wind. I find it very energizing when this happens. To stand out with the force of nature all around, puts a big smile on my face.

Last night we had a few friends here for a Yule celebration. The first friends came through the door, put gifts on the table, then said "We'll be back in a few minutes." and went outside again. After what seemed like a long time, we were wondering what was going on. They came back in and said "You have to come outside and look, we have a surprise for you." Putting boots on I stepped out. They had made Ice Candles and had them lining the pathway up to the house all lit up. I was so overwhelmed, it was absolutely magical. What fantastic friends to do this. I took a picture of them on the pathway but the picture didn't do them justice. I did get a close up of one, they were about a foot high.

I was out before daylight to put them away, hoping they will last until xmas eve when I can set them along the pathway once again.

lol Pete, you have to try it sometime. Roger is out in the driveway shoveling. High winds and snow is lashing his face. Can hardly see him at times with the white outs, lol. A day of shoveling no doubt.

You do have great friends and neighbours! Storms are energizing ... but I don't know if I'd like to stand out in a bitter wind ... at least not for too long.

Magical lights produced by great friends - sound wonderful OC.

Mind you, I don't envy Roger his shoveling job at all - brrr.

Ice Candles? I have never heard of such a thing but it looks lovely!

I wonder if you are getting what just went through here and left us in drifts?

I was out this morning shoveling... will write and post more about it on my blog later. But yes, it is energizing to be out in the wind blown snow. It was whipping what I shoveled back at me, but if you have enough layers on, you are warm... and working helps.

Jj, the ice candles are made from a mold. Water is poured in and it's frozen then taken out of the mold. I've never seen the mold itself but this is basically what you do.

I believe our storm did come up from the east coast of the U.S. It was pretty wild here this morning but has calmed down a bit now.

I've never seen ice candles. They are beautiful. Something to keep in the back of my head if I ever get a chance to try making some.
Merry Christmas

Happy Christmas Carol! The photos, as ever, are lovely ... skwirels especially. And you've got snow! We won't have a White Xmas here, but hopefully it won't rain! All the best for Christmas and the new year Cindy xxx

The ice candle is beautiful! Some people here put out paper bags with candles inside- not quite as magical as ice ;)
