Sunday Morning.

In some respects, you can tell how far behind the times I am. I bought my first cell phone a month ago for emergency uses only. We do travel on the highway at least once a month and if we break down or have an accident, and as there are fairly long distances that are empty of stores, houses, etc. we figured it was a good idea. I haven't used the phone yet and as the month was up and I wanted the minutes not used to go on this months card, I bought more minutes to put in. So, I had the instructions and they seemed very simple. Call a toll free number and I would be told what to do. Now the fun begins!!! A mechanical voice comes on telling me to enter my cell phone number. I gave the cell number and voice says something to the effect "This does not compute." I tried it several times and kept getting the same result. I was getting a little furious to say the least telling himself that I was going to call the company and give them a blast. Himself says "Let me try, maybe a male voice is needed." This didn't make much sense to me, but heigh ho, let him try. Again, no luck. So, phoned a friend for help. She came and in no time had the minutes added. The problem......I was using my voice to tell them my cell phone number instead of entering it with the phone keys. I felt a right fool. But I did learn something, lol.

Yesterday on getting up the temperature with +17 C. We couldn't believe it! In the early morning I was outside in my pajamas only, leaning on the gate, contemplating it all. It was unreal for this time of year. We did have another brush of snow overnight but it's suppose to warm up again in a couple of days.

This morning I've been polishing some of the silver, a job I really don't like. Also, my mind has been planning Yule celebrations. I just don't know where the time is going. We're having people in for Yule and again on Christmas Eve. Lots to do for these events coming up.

We've had a fair bit of rain lately and I could hear the stream rushing so decided to take the camera and walk over to see how it was. Here's a short video, turn on your sound.

I love the video (even if it does make me cross my legs). I quite like polishing silver and brass - very soothing. I've asked my husband to buy me a new electric toothbrush for Xmas so that I can use my old one for cleaning in the crevices of my ornate brass photo frames.

Lily, I used an old toothbrush I found on some of the crevices on the things I was polishing. It work quite well.

Carin. I think the voice said "enter" the number. lol, I didn't understand the language.
Tricia. Wish I could send some warm weather your way. Unfortunately, it's not likely to last long here.

LOL that reminds me of the commercial where she says "door open" and of course it doesn't and she plows right into it. But at least you did finally buy a cell phone. That means that I'm now the only one in N.America that doesn't own one:)
Love that little stream with the waterfall.

Well, folks, I do not have a cell phone either. Used to... it was pretty necessary for my business there and then, but here in Maine the reception was so spotty with the companies they have here (one works in some places, the other in others, and in many places where I go NONE is reliable) that I decided it was not worth the expense. I'll take my chances with breakdowns, etc, as I have not found a phone for "emergency use only" here that doesn't cost more than I consider it worth.

It's funny, I am about the only one where I work that doesn't smoke (and therefore take smoke breaks) and I am the ONLY one without a cell. If I were the boss looking at the security videos, I'd put the same restrictions on cell phone use as on the "company phone" (brief, emergency use only) as some times it seems like some of the gals spend the night with that phone glued to their ear.

But then I avoid phones of any kind as much as I can.

I too have resisted buying a cell photo. I have a phone at my desk at work and one in every room at home. Do I need another? Do I want to chat on the photo while driving or shopping? I know they would be wonderful to have in an emergency but I've never had an emergency.

"water" lovely video Oldcrow. Next week you'll be "streaming" videos over your mobile network. Welcome to the modern age... personally I'd prefer to be back there in the woods. Mind you I've just had a text chat with a friend in australia, so they have their uses :-) BR

Jj and Roses, it drives me mad as well when everyone is going around with their cell phones up to their ears. I even see the school children doing the same. I'd say it will be a rare time indeed when mine is used.

Pete, you can stop laughing now, lol. You're right, I can imagine the crowd in chat would have had quite a laugh.

BR, I don't think I'll be streaming videos over the cell, lol.

Cell phones are addictive. I got one a few years back "for emergencies only" and use it several times a week for non-emergencies. Eventually, we'll all be using cell phones instead of "land lines"
Happy Yule!
