Friday.

We had some snow, I'm not sure if it was the night before last or the night before that. We decided to go for an hour's walk again this morning. Although I had bundled up, I didn't realize just how cold it was. It was windy and the wind chill must have been right down there. By the time we got half way I was saying that I thought I had frost bite on my cheeks. Nah, he says, your cheeks are too red to have been frost bitten. I managed to pull my scarf up and haphazardly wrap it over my nose and cheeks. We carried on with me mumbling about never walking again until summer came, lol. We stopped at the drug store giving us a break, then trudged on heading for the corner store. We have long hills to climb both coming and going and by this time, for some reason, my lower back was giving me trouble. I think I had too much heavy clothes on so was carrying a weight with me as well. I said I was going to get a ride back from the store as I didn't think I'd make it. That's exactly what I did and himself decided to walk it. It is a lovely walk when it's warm and you're not uncomfortable in the cold and wind.

Now it's afternoon and it has warmed up considerably. Just lovely outside. Chickens on the deck and snow melting some. I'm getting several eggs most days now. I'm starting to save jars to pickle eggs once the hens really get going. I do like pickled eggs and it's a good way to preserve them. One mashed up with mayonnaise and chopped onion on a sandwich for lunch is great and the eggs last a year when pickled.

I'm getting anxious to start planting seeds. I've been going through the seed catalogues and turning down pages where I see seeds that I want. I'm hoping that it won't go any further than this as I really don't want to get into growing plants from seed again. So hard to resist. I have a feeling we may have an early spring this year. Wouldn't that be lovely.

Picture of the latest bit of snow.

Little chick a dee looking down at what I believe is a siskin.

Sorry to hear about your back - I think we tend to hold ourselves more rigidly when we feel cold so this may have been a contributing factor.

Your picture of snow covered trees is a real corker OC as is the chic a dee and siskin (I'm sure that's what it is.)

You are way braver than me OC, it would take a lot to get me out walking in all that snow!
Thought of you when I was in Atlanta- there were some Canadian guys in the swimming pool when it was 50 deg F outside! You all must be tough up there! :)
