Bugs, Flutters and Flowers.

A missed opportunity today. I saw a Short-tailed Swallowtail and didn't get a picture. Mainly black wings, at least they looked black, could have been very dark brown, yellow spots on the wings and a beautiful blue on end of tail. They are apparently only found in the Maritimes.

Another swallowtail though. A familiar sight this time of year.

And this one. The best I could do as it wouldn't stay still for long.

I'm not sure what this is. It looked like a cross between a bee and a wasp. Looks like it's legs are well covered with pollen.

Another bug of some sort.

Poppies and White roses are now blooming.

Feathered flower in the garden, lol. Drinking at small water feature.

Then off to find more bugs.

Great Photos today! LOVE the Chicken drink....How do you keep your Chickens from being attacked by fox and such? Do you keep them up at night?

Dixie, I've been fortunate that a fox, etc. hasn't gone for the chickens. I worry more about someones dog that might get loose. I'm not sure what you mean by "Do you keep them up at night." If you mean do I keep a light on...no I don't. People usually do that to make chickens lay eggs. I don't care if I get any eggs I just want them to have a good life. They have their own house which they go into by themselves at dusk and attached to that is a fair size greenhouse sort of thing for the winter when they can't get outside.

Your photos are beautiful. We haven't seen many butterflies this year. I think all the rain and the cold took their toll.

Your chicken looks happy roaming thru the garden. I have often thought of getting a couple but I'm afraid the coyotes would kill them.

Love the Swallowtail, and the other one also. think I've seen that before.

Good to see you kept the birdbath at the right height for its users!

Love the pictures.
