Batten Down the Hatches!

Severe weather bulletin this morning that hurricane Hanna is expected to hit us later today. No doubt we will loose the electricity as it doesn't take much for that to happen around here. Consequently I've spent part of the morning making salads.... potato, beet and macaroni. Got to keep our stomachs full, lol.

I've also heard that this winter is going to be "brutal" here. Yep, that's the word they used..."brutal". Have to consider stocking the larder. Best to be prepared in any event. Roger got in a bit of a panic mode this morning thinking about all of this. He's been going on about having wood ready to put up on the windows, worrying about what trees may come down on us, etc. I've been telling him to calm down. He does tend to over react.

The big spiders are about now. I found this one last evening. He had caught a wasp in the web and had nearly finished wrapping it up. Got the camera but by the time I got back out he had the wasp hidden away.

Wind is breezing up now and sky overcast. Best go and check on things outside. Hopefully it won't be as bad as predicted which often happens.

I just checked the Environment Canada weather forecast for Gander (though I know that is an hour away ... I'm not sure which way you are) ... Rainfall warning but I didn't see a wind warning. Hopefully you won't float away as it doesn't look like you'll be blown away. Thank godness! Great Orb Weaver pictures!

Cicero, I just checked the forecast myself. Now saying heavy rain later today with winds gusting to 60. That's laughable, honestly, they do make it sound, sometimes, as if it's all going to be disastrous.

Relieved to hear it's not going to be too bad OC - that's the sort of wind speed that we can have!

At least the Orb has it's meal ready to go LOL.

Be safe my sister !

I don't know many spider species but we have several large garden spiders that look similar. We have a lovely large Mrs. Spider who lives in the arbor near the Jasmine :)

Hi Crow, are you all right then? Hope the hurricane did not hit you too hard.

Isn't it strange? We have a wonderful and lovley late summer over here, infact one of the finest since a long time.

Weather wasn't nearly as bad as predicted. I expect I'll have to get a book on spiders, lol. I know nothing about them really.
Lol, Juli, we occasionally get a spider with a web in the bathroom sink or tub. We usually name it and try not to disturb it until it decides to move off. I'll bet your Mrs. Spider is a beauty.

Seems we're all posting G.Spider pictures, you, Border reiver and I on my blog too.

Love your pictures of it, Crow. Envious of your lens.

Yoke, the macro is built into the camera. I mean that I don't have to put on another lens for the macro shots.
