Overcast, cool, Wednesday

Before day light this morning I saw some activity at the feeders. Well, actually it wasn't pitch black as the light was cracking the sky in the East. Lots of chick a dees and a couple of jays. Got the camera and went outside, yep, I know, half cracked. Only managed two pictures as the birds were moving about so fast most of the pictures were of empty branches. Not the best two pictures but just to show what happens in the near daylight hours. lol

Once it got light, after watering all the house plants which is a job in itself, I went outside to do a little work. It was -4 C on getting up but it had warmed up a little. I emptied all but a few of the plant pots of soil onto the compost heap and now have pots in the wheelbarrow to store in the greenhouse. Lots of birds around. All regulars except on Junco which I didn't manage to get a picture of.

Chick a Dee

I've only put this one on so you can see how he's cracked the seed open to get the meat inside.

Jay

Woodie

I made up an onion bag filled with oatmeal, bread crumbs, peanut butter and fruit. The first time I've done this since last winter. No one has bothered with it as yet though I expect once the crows and squirrel see it, it won't be there for long. I took a walk around and as it looked like rain I came back inside.

This is wishful thinking as I just love lizards and we don't have any here, so I pretend, lol.

He's near the brush pile where he can hide with other small creatures.

The wild blueberry leaves are turning a lovely red.

One more thing of note, when Laurie was here for the weekend she put blonde highlights in my hair. I think I can safely say that I'm a blonde now. lol. It's blonder than it looks in picture. I did get a bit of a start when I first saw it but am quite enjoying it now.

Chickadees are one of my favorites. I haven't seen any at my feeders since last April although I can hear them off in the distance.
Yep, you're blonde. Are you having more fun now? :)

Golly - -4 already - too cold to think about! At least "your" lizard won't be affected by it!

And the blonde hair - Wow - there's brave LOL (Clever picture)

You are really lucky that your jay is cooperative about photos. Mine are so shy I can't get within a hundred yards.

I love the chickadees too. Their little dee-dee-dee call always seems so cheerful.
